The Story of Cranky Hank
Cranky Hank was born in 1927 and adopted by a wealthy apple farmer. He grew up in upstate New York and attended private schooling. He and his father didn't see eye to eye on everything (sound familiar?). Being raised on a farm required manual labor and that was something Cranky Hank didn't like. Trying to figure out how to get away, Hank had the bright idea of joining the military (and that was a good idea). He wanted to be a Marine. And he was. A Drill Instructor, so he claimed.
Cranky Hank had found his niche. He liked yelling. And yell he did. About everything. But like most yellers, he had a heart of gold. Need something? Just ask. He'd be there to help...without yelling! They say the Marines helped him and gave him a good work ethic (the military is good for that).
After his military career, Hank settled down and raised a family. Still cranky, he never forgot how to raise his voice, but he did forget how to smile. Well, Hank's not raising his voice now, he passed away years ago. But his influence is loud and clear. People ask me if I knew him. I knew him, I didn't always understand him,but he did teach me to laugh, smile and enjoy family and life.
